How we do it
Execution is crucial to the success of any plan. Even the best plan holds little value without proper execution. Herding 4 Hope prides itself on best practice execution through sound processes, technical support, training and equipping, solid administrative support, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation to inform implementation in a constantly changing environment. The Herding 4 Hope team possesses the experience, resources, and skills needed to support, equip, and empower any community and its partners to diligently and systematically follow the journey facilitated through the H4H model.
Technical Support
Dr. Jacques van Rooyen is the father of the Herding 4 Health model and has been the key driver of the model throughout Africa for the last 10 years. His support team of technical experts utilises science, research, expertise and best practice protocol to plan and direct the implementation strategies unique to every landscape. Landscape assessments and situational analysis of rangelands and communities help inform practical execution uniquely developed according to the landscape context. Practical execution based on sound technical backing is the ultimate objective!
Project Management Support
Herding 4 Hope has a team of engineers and project managers that operationally execute the various processes within a landscape based on the implementation plan. All aspects of execution are managed and support for local teams and implementers are done through sound project management systems and tools. Proper scoping and change management, financial management, human resource management, time management, quality management, risk management and procurement management are all integrated for effective and efficient execution.
Monitoring & Evaluation Support
All stakeholders need to have confidence in verification and Herding 4 Hope M&E team supply verifiable data to track progress and change over implantation landscapes. The data is used for continual plan updating and to give feedback to all relevant stakeholders. This also unlocks enterprise opportunities that is linked to compliance verification. Project management support also allows proper execution aligned to M&E data unlocking value chain benefits
Administration Support
Many communities do not have the means to administrate the Herding 4 Health model and Herding 4 Hope support implantation communities with administration capacity. Implementers, grazing committees, farmers and herders are capacitated with administrative support.
Training Support
Herding 4 Hope work with training partners ,academies/colleges developing and delivering accredited herder courses at three levels to aid career pathing of Ecorangers and deploy the skills in rangelands to bring the necessary adaptations. The human resource compliment is trained for the various levels of execution, management and governance.
In-House
Herding 4 Hope does the implementing project manager training and leadership development training in-house which is linked to a mentoring program for ongoing support and development. Implementing training and site workshops to implementers and communities are all done by the Herding 4 Hope team.
